From time to time we hear about interesting stories regarding how some of our clients have implemented EOS solutions, including the associated value that our solutions have brought to the libraries.
As such, we have taken the time to publish these stories in order to help librarians see what other librarians are doing to improve access to information and to increase visibility regarding the benefits of their library to their organization.
The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) has 22 libraries in 20 correctional facilities in Colorado with a collection size that varies from 2,200 to 22,000 titles. In keeping with the public library model of patron services, their library collections represent broad and varied points of view in a variety of accessible formats.
The Charleston School of Law (CSOL) was established in 2004. They offer students the opportunity to study the time-honored practice of law amid beautiful downtown Charleston, South Carolina, one of the South’s oldest and most prestigious cities. The school is conveniently situated near the historic “four corners of the law” as well as the thriving legal community and the federal and county court houses. CSOL’s Sol Blatt Jr. Library is a two-story library with beautiful arched ceilings. Their library catalog now exceeds 620,000 titles.
Indiana University Health is Indiana’s most comprehensive healthcare system. A unique partnership with Indiana University School of Medicine, one of the nation’s leading medical schools, gives patients access to innovative treatments and therapies. IU Health is comprised of hospitals, physicians and allied services dedicated to providing preeminent care throughout Indiana and beyond. Indiana University health has over 3700 physicians and 23,000 employees.
Founded in 1986 and granted official status as a private university in 1990, Universidad de Palermo (UP) has become one of the most innovative, vigorous and prestigious educational institutions in Argentina. The library constitutes the center of the university’s academic activities. The University of Palermo’s library has more than 45,000 volumes and includes audiovisual materials.
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace was established in 1910 as a non-partisan organization furthering the cause of international peace. With a staff of leading experts from around the globe, the organization is home to over 10,000 items, with additional e-journals, edocuments, databases, and an archival collection stretching back to the 1950s.
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Research Library, located on the campus of The University of Virginia, is a leader in transportation research. The Research Library came to EOS International searching for a way to bring its impressive collection of industry research and data to its staff, patrons, and industry, while maintaining its employees’ control of the library’s holdings.
St. Jude Medical specializes in medical research and technology, with an emphasis on the treatment of cardiac, neurological, and chronic disorders. With over 15,000 employees in over 100 countries, St. Jude’s continuing leadership in the medical field makes them a source of research and information for the entire industry.
The National Portrait Gallery in London, England, houses the world’s primary collection of portraits of British sitters. With a collection spanning the history of portraiture, the Heinz Archive and Library within the National Portrait Gallery functions as the research library collection for the organization. With over 25,000 bibliographic units, the staff at the Heinz Archive and Library was acutely aware of the uniqueness of their collection, as well as the desire for external researchers to access information found only within the Heinz Archive and Library.
The Santee Cooper Corporate Library is the primary library for the South Carolina Public Service Authority, a public utility doing business as Santee Cooper. The Corporate Library helps Santee Cooper achieve its mission on a daily basis by providing Web-based access to resources to 1,700 employees via the EOS.Web OPAC.
Located at the Gemological Institute of America’s world headquarters at the Robert Mouawad Campus in Carlsbad, CA, the Richard T. Liddicoat Gemological Library and Information Center is the world’s largest, most up-to-date source of gemological information on diamonds, colored stones, jewelry arts and jewelry business. The Library serves as the gem and jewelry industry’s most authoritative resource and is recognized as the first point of reference – and the final word – for industry professionals around the world.
The W.E. Upjohn Unemployment Trustee Corporation was founded in 1932 to administer a fund set aside by Dr. W.E. Upjohn (1852-1932) for the purpose of conducting research into the causes and effects of unemployment and measures for the alleviation of unemployment.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is an independent part of the US Government that has been servicing the United States for over two centuries. USPS delivers to more than 140 million homes and businesses. According to the USPS they handle an astonishing 170 million pieces of mail annually.
Groupe ESC Pau is a graduate business school located in Pau, France whose mission is to teach graduate students various different business disciplines such as finance, management, and marketing. EOS.Web Enterprise serves their 500 users a day, whom consist of graduate students and professors who need to have rapid access to all materials in the library, helping to support a strategic objective, improved research.
The Energy Resource Center (ERC) provides information on energy efficient, green and sustainable design, and renewable resources to both Pacific Energy Center and PG&E staff as well as building design professionals and the public. These professionals are looking for information to help them design and operate buildings more efficiently. The resource center collections include books, journals, conference proceedings, videos and key electronic document records cataloged and made available on their customized EOS.Web OPAC.

St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC), located in Evansville, Indiana, is part of the Ascension Health system. They serve patients through a network of hospitals and related health facilities by providing acute care services, long-term care, community health services, psychiatric, rehabilitation and residential care. St. Mary’s primary service area consists of over 250,000 people in three counties of Indiana: Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey.
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) opened in July 2000 as a national information and resource hub relating to all aspects of sexual violence. A project of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR), the oldest and one of the largest state sexual assault coalitions, NSVRC is funded through a grant from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Violence Prevention.
The Embassy of Australia Library in Washington, D.C. is the only library of its kind of all the Australian Embassies and Consulates worldwide and has successfully implemented the EOS e-Library Service.

The Loomis Chaffee School is a private college prepatory high-school in Windsor, Connecticut. The school has a mix of boarding students and day students. The student population is very diverse and has students coming from 30 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 15 foreign countries. The Loomis Chaffee School opened it’s doors in 1914 to 39 boys and five girls. The school now has 720 students.
The David Library of the American Revolution, located in Washington Crossing, PA, is a unique national institution. As its name implies, the David Library exists to collect, preserve, and make available every kind of material related to the American Revolution.
The PFRD (Public Facilities and Resources Department) library was organized as an internal technical library in 1975 from several individual county departments, which handle flood control, transportation, geomatics, environmental issues, harbors, beaches, parks and planning. The PFRD library has one primary location and one additional non-circulating historical collection.
