Federated search functionality eliminates the problems associated
with having to search, one at a time, dozens of databases, each
of which have their own unique search interface and password authentication.
With EOS.Web Federated Searching, from a single search interface
users can select any set of database sources to search, whether
it be the Web, Z39.50, commercial, internal or free. Results are
displayed according to source, and with a single click, the entire
record is displayed in the native database.
EOS.Web Federated Search Features:
Dynamic results - results can be sorted by a
variety of options, including relevancy, date, title, author,
and publisher. An innovative results shuffle option even takes
advantage of content providers' own powerful relevancy.
Thesaurus - transparently searches pre-selected
thesauri, with alternate search terms suggested, which can be
searched on with a mouse-click. Thesauri choices include Library
of Congress and MeSH.
Alerts - enable you to stay current on your
favorite subjects. You can save your searches, set the frequency
of your updates, and have an email alert sent to the addresses
you choose.
OpenURL - compatibility with all major OpenURL
link resolvers. OpenURL links may be embedded within results citations,
enabling users to easily find e-articles with a mouse click.
The EOS.Web Federated Search module can also optionally feature the ability
to manage your personal Federated Search environment. With this optional functionality
you can configure your favorite database menus, build alerts, save searches
and even customize the look and feel.
